In July 2004, the NCPEA Executive Board unanimously approved a major project to assemble the Knowledge Base (KB) in Educational Administration. The KB in educational administration consists of the necessary knowledge and information to help school leaders effectively manage and lead schools.

There is evidence that the existing KB in educational administration comes mostly from the research and theory end of the spectrum, mostly generated by a relatively few scholars, researchers, and authors, and more disturbingly, rarely comes from practicing school leaders who are closest to the application of the KB and have first-hand experience with its applicability. We are working closely with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals to solicit more contributions to the KB from practicing school leaders.

NCPEA is currently working to "assemble" materials in educational administration through an international initiative called NCPEA CONNEXIONS. In October 2004, the NCPEA Executive Board approved a collaborative partnership with the CONNEXIONS Project at Rice University to pursue the publishing of a more thorough and inclusive collection of materials with free access to the world. The collecting, organizing, and publishing of educational administration materials has begun.

In May 2008, NCPEA added Express Academic Services, who provide us with the Manuscript FastTrack™ system, a fully automated web-based manuscript management and tracking service that speeds up the review process, improves the quality of reviews, and enhances the experience of authors, reviewers, and editors while eliminating the need for administrative and other support staff. After manuscripts are reviewed and accepted, they flow into the Manuscript FastPress system, and are published in the International Journal of Educational Leadership Preparation (IJELP).
